About Us
Every therapy journey begins with a story.
Sometimes it’s the story of a relationship that slowly stopped feeling safe. Sometimes it’s realizing that what once felt like love was actually harm. Sometimes it’s about discovering parts of your identity, sexuality, or desires that the world hasn’t always made space for. And sometimes it’s simply the quiet sense that something in your life - your relationships, your sense of self, your connection to intimacy or pleasure - deserves care and attention.
Healing Path Therapy was founded on the belief that these stories deserve thoughtful, compassionate support.
The practice began with Heather, whose work focused on supporting individuals recovering from relational trauma and abuse. Over time, she noticed that many of her clients’ experiences didn’t exist in isolation. Trauma and growth often intersect with questions of identity, marginalization, sexuality, and connection. Healing wasn’t just about processing what had happened—it was also about reclaiming authenticity, connection, and pleasure.
Recognizing the need for a more integrated approach, Heather partnered with Brad, a gay sex and relationship therapist whose work focused on 2SLGBTQ+ communities, sexual wellness, intimacy, and relationships. Together, they envisioned a practice that could support people not only in recovering from painful experiences but also in building fulfilling and meaningful lives and relationships.
Since then, Healing Path Therapy has grown into a team of psychotherapists who share a common vision:
creating a space where trauma recovery, relational health, identity exploration, and sexual wellness can all be addressed together. We believe that well-being doesn’t exist in separate boxes. Our identities, relationships, bodies, and experiences are deeply interconnected, and meaningful healing often happens when we acknowledge those intersections.
Today, we work with individuals and relationships, navigating a wide range of experiences. Many of our clients are members of 2SLGBTQ+ communities, people exploring gender or sexual identity, or individuals and partners in non-monogamous or polyamorous relationships. Others come to us to rebuild trust in relationships, recover from toxic or abusive dynamics, explore intimacy and desire, or reconnect with pleasure and their authentic selves.
At the heart of our work is a commitment to creating a space that is affirming, collaborative, and deeply respectful of each client’s story. Our therapists practice from trauma-informed, sex-positive, and 2SLGBTQ+-affirming perspectives, and we intentionally welcome individuals and relationships that exist outside of heteronormative, cisnormative, or colonial relationship models.
Our work draws from several therapeutic approaches, including Internal Family Systems (IFS), sex therapy, trauma-informed care, narrative therapy, and relational models such as Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy (EFCT) and the Gottman Method. But more than any single framework, what guides our work is curiosity, compassion, and collaboration.
While therapy often involves difficult and courageous work, we also believe that healing should create space for joy, exploration, and pleasure. Growth isn’t only about repairing what has been hurt - it’s also about discovering new ways of connecting with yourself and with others.
Our team now includes several therapists who bring diverse training, lived experience, and identities to this work. Many of us are members of the communities we serve or have personal connections to the experiences our clients navigate, which helps us approach this work with both skill and deep empathy.
